General Information
Here is some information to know before engaging in bets. Make sure to read it carefully.
This feature is permissionless: anyone can create prediction markets.
The feature relies on trusted price sources such as Hatom and xLend price aggregators to minimize the risk of price manipulation. However, you can never be 100% sure.
Price sources have a precision of at least 6 decimals (e.g., 42.320001). The price comparison function always takes full precision into account. In other words, prices may appear equal in the UI (e.g., 42.320001 may appear equal to 42.32), but they are not equal when all decimals are considered.
If a price source becomes unusable for safety or technical reasons, a market can be canceled, and bettors can get their bets refunded (no fees applied).
Each market follows this timeline:
Start: beginning of the betting period.
Freeze: end of betting; the market is frozen for a certain amount of time before it can be settled.
Settlement: once the settlement date and time are reached, the market can be settled. The final price is set at settlement. Settlement occurs when the first bettor claims their rewards.
All logic (funds management, market settlement, and price sources) is executed on-chain.
A percentage of fees is taken from losing bets when the market is settled. No fees are applied to winning bets, so you never lose tokens on a winning bet.
In the unlikely event that a bet ends in a “draw” (i.e., the price ends up being exactly equal to the target price, neither above nor below), all bets are considered losing.
